DoIT Academic Technology provides countless opportunities to gather on campus to learn and discuss a variety of topics. This includes pedagogical discussions and technology demonstrations through Faculty Engagement programs, learning technology trainings from Learn@UW, on-campus sessions for Information Technology Academy scholars, technology workshops from Software Training for Students and special campus events we host or co-host. See the below calendar for upcoming events.

You can filter the calendar using Audience or Categories, which are the names of the DoIT AT service hosting the event. For Software Training for Students, you may use Tags to narrow it down to specific software workshops.

Active Teaching Lab: Organizing a Course in Canvas

September 15, 2017 @ 8:30 am - 9:45 am

Elise Davis uses Canvas navigation tools like Calendar and Assignments to guide students.

The more options a course has, the more possibilities for students to get lost in it. The Canvas Calendar spans all the courses your students (and you!) are involved in. Hear Elise’s experience using Assignments and the Calendar to help guide learning tasks. Bring your laptop or mobile device to get hands-on experience with Canvas tools as a student. Bring a Sandbox course to work with the tools as an instructor!

Registration is encouraged, but not required. Please scroll down to RSVP.

Active Teaching Labs are held Fridays from 8:30-9:45am (and every other Thursday from 1-2pm, see events calendar for dates) in room 120, Middleton Building. Check out upcoming labs or read recaps from past labs. To stay informed about upcoming Labs, sign up for regular announcements by sending an email to
