DoIT Academic Technology provides countless opportunities to gather on campus to learn and discuss a variety of topics. This includes pedagogical discussions and technology demonstrations through Faculty Engagement programs, learning technology trainings from Learn@UW, on-campus sessions for Information Technology Academy scholars, technology workshops from Software Training for Students and special campus events we host or co-host. See the below calendar for upcoming events.

You can filter the calendar using Audience or Categories, which are the names of the DoIT AT service hosting the event. For Software Training for Students, you may use Tags to narrow it down to specific software workshops.

Active Teaching Lab: Social Learning in Canvas

March 8 @ 8:30 am - 9:45 am

Research shows peer-to-peer interaction greatly enhances learning, but it’s not always easy to facilitate. How can we create more of it without losing educational intent? How can Canvas help and hinder social construction of knowledge? See and share examples and experiences with social learning.

Walk-ins welcome but registration appreciated to ensure refreshments for all. Bring your laptop or mobile device for hands-on experimentation. Have opinions or experience on the topic? Sign up as a contributor.

The Active Teaching Lab is a Faculty Engagement program with sessions held on Thursdays from 1:00-2:00pm and Fridays from 8:30-9:45am in the Middleton Building (1305 Linden Dr.), room 120. Check out upcoming Labs or read the recaps from past Labs. We build interdisciplinary conversations that are more emergent than a presenter and more dynamic than a panel — a conversation with colleagues sharing challenges, solutions, and experiments on topics selected by a variety of stakeholders.

Sign up for regular Lab announcements by sending an email to join-activeteaching@lists.wisc.edu.
