Getting Started in Canvas
August 31 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Getting Started in Canvas is a 90-minute introductory Canvas training session. We will take a quick overview of several critical features and functionalities in Canvas, with the intent of helping you to prepare your course for the first day of class.
During this session, you will explore many of the following items (as time permits):
- the Canvas dashboard (the Inbox and Calendar)
- uploading and managing files in your course
- creating pages, assignments, quizzes and discussions
- using modules to organize all this new content
- the Canvas gradebook
- customizing your homepage
- sources for help and additional training
You can work within a Canvas course shell that has been assigned to you. Or, you can request a Canvas sandbox course prior to class. Click here for instructions on requesting a sandbox course.
This course is held in Biochemistry B1144A. This is a computer lab. There are 20 computers available, on a first-come-first-served basis. If you have a laptop, please, consider bringing it as a back-up.
Questions are encouraged. Participants will also be made aware of additional online and face-to-face training resources. The instructor and another Canvas consultant will remain in the classroom for the hour after the session, to answer questions and provide support.
