R2C Studio: Writing learning objectives

Wednesday, June 1, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

In this workshop, learn to write strong, student-centered learning objectives. These statements describe what you want students to know and be able to do. Learning objectives can serve as a guide as you select content and design assessments, assignments, and learning activities.

Before the workshop, we recommend that you read a summary of qualities of strong objectives, and an introduction to Bloom’s Taxonomy system for classifying objectives according to students’  levels of skills and knowledge.  In the workshop, we will delve deeper into this system how it can help you build a learning path for students.

You will have time to draft and discuss sample learning objectives for a portion of your course. Bring a copy of your course syllabus, and ideas for a course topic you’d like to focus on.

Handout: Writing Learning Objectives

This is part of a nine-part series developed by Faculty Engagement‘s Research-to-Classroom Studio. Everyone is welcome to attend the entire series or drop-in for a single workshop.
