R2C Studio: Designing the learning experience

Friday, June 3, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

In this workshop, learn strategies to plan and organize learning experiences for students to acquire knowledge, apply and reflect on what they’ve learned.

Before the workshop, we recommend that you read our summary of general strategies and components of active learning. We also recommend a familiarity with student-centered learning objectives, and assessment design. See the handouts or attend the June 1 and 2 workshops on learning objectives, and assessment.

In the workshop, we will discuss ways that types of learning experiences, such as a lecture, reading, discussion, or assignment can help students acquire, integrate, and apply knowledge. You will have time to draft and discuss a sequence of students’ learning experiences for one of your course topics.

Handout: Writing Learning Objectives

Handout: Assessing Student Learning

Handout: Designing the Learning Experience

Registration encouraged, to help us gauge attendance.

This is part of a nine-part series developed by Faculty Engagement‘s Research-to-Classroom Studio. Everyone is welcome to attend the entire series or drop-in for a single workshop.
