Attending STS Sessions Online

All Software Training for Students workshops sessions are currently being delivered virtually via Blackboard Collaborate Ultra and can be accessed from within the STS Canvas course.

To attend the workshops, do the following:

  1. Enroll in the STS Canvas Course (if you are not already enrolled)
  2. After enrolling, click the link to our BB Collaborate Ultra page
  3. Find the name of the workshop you'd like to attend and click the Join Session button.
  4. Recommended: Download the Class Files before attending your scheduled workshop.

Illustrator 2 is a continuation of the skills learned in Illustrator 1, with a special focus on designing poster art. In this workshop students will learn advanced effects and artistic touches to create an effective advertising flyer.

Topics include:

  • Layers
  • Working with images and image trace
  • Clipping masks
  • Color guides and choosing color palettes
  • Text editing and distortion
  • Appearance panel and graphic styling
  • Creating patterns and symbols
  • Exporting to PDF

Prerequisites:

Working knowledge of the basics of Illustrator


Note: Software Training for Students services are only available to currently registered undergraduate or graduate students of UW-Madison. Faculty, staff and former students are not eligible to attend our training workshops or consultations.
