DoIT Academic Technology provides countless opportunities to gather on campus to learn and discuss a variety of topics. This includes pedagogical discussions and technology demonstrations through Faculty Engagement programs, learning technology trainings from Learn@UW, on-campus sessions for Information Technology Academy scholars, technology workshops from Software Training for Students and special campus events we host or co-host. See the below calendar for upcoming events.

STS: Illustrator for Research Posters

April 5 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

This class introduces the basic tools used in creating an effective and visually appealing research poster with Adobe Illustrator. The class exercise focuses on creating a research poster while emphasizing points of effective design. This class is independent of our other Illustrator classes. Topics include:

Setting up a new document
Grids, rulers, and guides
Tools, palettes, and workspaces
Working with objects
Working with text
Graph tools
Importing objects
Saving and exporting for print

*** This class can be taken as a stand-alone session or as a complement to the Rhetoric of Research Posters sessions offered by the Writing Center. The idea is that STS will provide nuts-and-bolts, how-to information that will complement the message-focused instruction the Writing Center provides.

Note: Software Training for Students workshops are only available to currently registered undergraduate or graduate students of UW-Madison. Faculty, staff and former students are not eligible to attend our training.
