Attending STS Sessions Online
All Software Training for Students workshops sessions are currently being delivered remotely via Zoom. Our room can be accessed from the following link:
To attend the workshops, we recommend the following:
- Enroll in the STS Canvas Course (if you are not already enrolled)
- After enrolling, click the following link to join our Zoom room
- Recommended: Download the class files for the session by finding the corresponding workshop manual in the Modules section of the course.
IMPORTANT: MATLAB is available for all UW-Madison students to download from the Campus Software Library. Instructions on how to do so can be found here. We recommend you download the software a day before your scheduled workshop.
MATLAB is a numerical computing environment and fourth generation programming language. MATLAB allows matrix manipulation, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs in other languages.

Basic computing and familiarity with mathematics like matrix processing
Note: Software Training for Students services are only available to currently registered undergraduate or graduate students of UW-Madison. Faculty, staff and former students are not eligible to attend our training workshops or consultations.
