New School Year, New Features in Canvas

NameCoach Integration Within Canvas

NameCoach, a tool that allows Canvas users to audio record the proper pronunciation of their names, is now integrated with Canvas. Individuals enrolled in the same courses will be able to access and listen to those recordings. We are excited to roll out this tool as part of our campus accessibility and inclusivity efforts.

Learn@UW–Madison manages the NameCoach integration in Canvas with the DoIT Help Desk providing technical support. 

Canvas – Course Roles Permissions Were Re-Aligned

Last week, Learn@UW-Madison performed maintenance on Canvas roles. As a result, the “Staff” role was altered to realign its behavior with the specifications laid out in the KB document, Canvas – Course Roles and Permissions. Individuals possessing a Staff role will no longer be able to make edits to the gradebook or review student work submitted for assignments.
